Florida A&M lost 73-70 to Southern in the SWAC semifinals on a late three-pointer. Five Rattlers scored in double figures, led by Tyler Shirley’s 16, after FAMU recovered from a first-half deficit.
Florida A&M fell 72-68 to Alabama A&M after reaching halftime tied. Miya Giles-Jones supplied 17 points and nine rebounds, and Shaniyah McCarthy added 16 as the Rattlers challenged the SWAC Tournament’s top seed.
The Rattlers defeated Bethune-Cookman 55-52 behind a strong defensive effort. Shaniyah McCarthy and Miya Giles-Jones scored 13 points each, while Breazia Robinson contributed eight rebounds and eight blocks in the milestone victory.
Tahnyjia Purifoy earned All-SWAC recognition after contributing as a scorer and playmaker. She reached double figures in scoring 16 times and recorded separate ten-assist games against Southern and Alcorn during her junior season.
